How much do we charge?
Some companies charge by the room, like Stanley Steemer but we prefer to charge by the square foot. Some people say when you price your job by the square foot, you are being most fair to your customer. Because there is really no room that is the same size, so to charge by the room would have big discrepancies. So, here is our pricing:
- $.40 per square foot for standard carpet cleaning with a $200 minimum up to 500 sq ft.
- $5 per step on your stairs
- $.12 per square foot for carpet protection
- $.75+ for restorative cleaning, and it could be more based on severity and level of damage
- $15 room for furniture moving
- $125 minimum for pet odor treatment and price will increase due to severity or pad replacement
Since we charge by the square foot, you will have to know roughly your measurements in order for us to give you a price. To calculate your square footage, take the length of your room, and multiply the width of your room. For example, if your room is 10 feet long, and 15 feet wide. Multiply 10×15 and that equals 150 square feet. Another easy way to calculate square footage is to go on to Zillow.com, type in your address to get your square footage. If your home is mostly carpet, then all you have to do is subtract a couple small areas of tile or linoleum and then you get your square footage of carpet.
What is carpet cleaning bait and switch?
When shopping for a carpet cleaning company, you will find advertised prices such as 2 rooms and hallway $95. 5 rooms and a hallway $149. Look familiar? These prices are ridiculously low and the temptation lies within. However, buyer beware. In most cases, the price you see is not the price you will get. These are considered “get your foot into their door” prices. Often times, these companies will come into your home and during the pre-inspection process will say you need this service, and that service. Before you know it, that low introductory deal is now triple their original advertised price. And here is where they get you. They claim if you don’t buy the marked up rate, then your carpet is not going to get clean. So you feel compelled to agree because you do want your carpet clean, right? Well, this is a bad way to do business and this often frustrates the consumer.
The other concern with low prices comes with what corners are they cutting? Are they not pre-vacuuming, using pre-spray, watering down their carpet protection, or not taking their time during the cleaning process? Are they fully insured with general liability, commercial auto, and workers comp? Are you aware if a cleaning technician gets injured in your home and he is not protected with workers comp insurance, he can hold you liable for his injuries while working in your home? We know the lowest cleaning prices can be tempting but is it really worth it?
