What is carpet stretching?
Carpet ripples are all too common these days, and are usually discovered in high use areas. Normally caused by improper installation, or we have seen carpet that has been disengaged from the wall to install cable or speaker wires. The standard for carpet is to stretch 1 to 2 inches of the length of the room. Powers technicians are trained and certified to properly repair your carpet by using industry standard procedures. The proper way to stretch carpet is by using a power stretcher, not a knee kicker. By the use of a power stretcher, we can properly stretch your carpet at least 1 to 2 inches which meets industry standards. We keep a power stretcher on all trucks, so you know your carpet will be repaired properly. Allow us to resolve your carpet problems, and say good bye to those unsightly ripples! What is carpet patching?
Carpet patching is an advanced method of repairing carpet to remove permanent damage caused by a pet, burn, stain, or bleach. This is a very good way to save carpet to prevent full replacement. It is advised to keep some leftover carpet in your garage and we don’t advise discarding this carpet because eventually you will need to have a carpet patch. If you do not have any extra carpet, we can remove a small piece from an inconspicuous closet and replace that with a remnant we carry on the van.
But carpet patching is not an easy repair to make. To get the seam lines perfect takes patience and precision and if you rush a patch, it will reflect in the end result. We like to used advanced seam iron tools that allow us to get the patch lined up perfectly before hot melting the seam tape. That’s what makes our repairs far superior to the competition.
How large can you patch a carpet? Patch sizes can range from 3 inches square up to a couple feet square. One thing to keep in mind about patching. If you are patching carpet in a high traffic lane, it will be impossible to provide perfection. This is due to the wear pattern not matching. So, you are using a brand new piece of carpet from the closet that has never been walked on, and transplanting it into an area that may have 3-5 years of wear on it. So, a measure of reason and adjusted expectations would be expected on these types of repairs. And our normal disclosure would be that as the homeowner, you will likely know where the patch is located because of heightened awareness, but a visitor into your home would likely never see it.
